(I love givin people books.) His books are a little off the wall, but they're amazing all the same. Either way, yeah, Japanese use the shadow thing a lot.

You're right: hai, okagesama de is a response to "are you healthy?" (ogenki desu ka), which is a common greeting. it's really formal though and I only say it when I'm looking for a cheap giggle. "okage de" or "in the shadow (of)" is also used for like "Thanks to Travis I'm xxxxx". like at my academy, they might say "congrats on getting promoted" and i'd say, literally, "...in everyone's shadow" meaning "Thanks to everyone."Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09118102594366676120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16985041.post-1156168670673549192006-08-21T08:57:00.000-05:002006-08-21T08:57:00.000-05:00I look tough when I'm all blue and have giant wing...I look tough when I'm all blue and have giant wings.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16985041.post-1156099389318526042006-08-20T13:43:00.000-05:002006-08-20T13:43:00.000-05:00WOWOWOW!!!WOWOWOW!!!asianboyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08512275701144155370noreply@blogger.com
