Trauma Surgery, Beck and Vampire Beagles

I am Trauma Surgery this month. Cruddy hours, but fun cases. This is a case of a fracture/dislocation of the talus, and I did some conscious sedation while my ortho colleagues tried to reduce the fracture.

If you don't believe in vampires, I at least present proof of Vampire Beagles. A rare breed, they don't transmutate into bats but rather very small rhinos. Not really all that useful if you ask me.

I also wanted to share the new Beck cover. It comes blank, and you get to decorate it ala Trapper Keeper style. If you have the album, send me your pics and I will post it.

I don't know what a talus is, but I don't want to fracture it.

Looks like vampire beagles also really enjoy watching TV.

I heard they didn't get that reduced, was it the technique or the sedation?

How is that new Beck album?

Cory-

Vampire beagles, at least mine, do enjoy watching TV. Especially animal plant. Seriously.

Nick-

I gave the cadillac of sedation. The kid was so asleep the only neurons functioning were the ones keeping him breathing, and they still couldn't get the bone reduced. It wasn't the technique, it was just a bad fracture/dislocation. They had to open him up in the OR and do it.

Tony,

So far I am in my 3rd time of listening to it. Chad Fields recommends 3 times of listening before any hard and fast decisions are made. But, so far I really like it. It was produced by Nigel Godrich, who did Mutations and Sea Changes, which are my favorite Beck albums.

I saw him on a replay of SNL last night and it was great.

I saw the SNL episode too and told chad fields about it. Did you see the "clap your hands" song with the guys sitting at the dinner table and the puppets off to the side? I thought that was the best musical performance I have ever seen on SNL. Absolutely fricking loved it. I have been looking for a clip to put on here. SNL pulled it from YouTube. If you find it on the net, let me know.

I agree that was absolute performance art genius.
