I went YouTubing this morning, so I kind of have a spree of vids to share. This is from Don McCloskey, (who has some great songs from Bombs over Bristol). Great song, unique video.
If you have ever heard the song Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger from Daft Punk, I think you will love this clip. Make sure you stick with it until the lyrics start. An impressive display of coordination if nothing else. Just so you know ahead of time, here is the entire lyrics for the song: Work It Harder Make It Better Do It Faster, Makes Us stronger More Than Ever Hour After Our Work Is Never Over
This made me laugh hard by myself while eating breakfast at 6 in the morning. I think because I could see Paul Brady and I doing this shit for fun too. This video is great for so many reasons, the music, the random ninja sightings, the punching of the water. Loved it.
Chad and I headed to the 21st Annual Rustic Run last Saturday. We got up at 5am to drive to Lost Nation and take on the likes of John Gilroy. I had a great time running the race, the Rustic Run is really a great race. I was a little slow, 4 minutes off my PR and 3 minutes slower than the last time I ran it, but still managed about a 7:20 pace and finished 24th overall. I will add that Jeremy Dunlavey was there, in shape, running way more than I have been obviously, and he beat me. Motivation for next year.
After not placing in my age group for the run, I decided to enter in the Duck Race. Chad and I bought a couple of ducks and away they went.
A large group of the ducks hit the rapids at the same time. My duck crossed in 2nd place, you can see him heading over the rapids up there just ahead of the group. He earned me a cool 20 bucks.
Margaret and Renee came to the Rustic Run and walked the route. Afterwards we went out to Chad's house where Victor cooked up steak and veggies like a damn magician on the grill. It was delicious.
They had some puppies at the parade they were giving away. I really wanted to take this one home. She was a hound mix and would have made an execellent friend for Dizzle. I got the big N-O from the boss however.
Chad and I loaded up his canoe on the Explorer the other day and headed out to Lake McBride for some canoeing around the lake. It was a perfect morning for it, sunny, calm and lots of critters around the lake for us to look at. We got really close to a couple of blue herons like this one.
Ben and Carrie were great and hosted a baby shower for us. It was really great. Golf in the morning, followed by cake, catching up with friends, and lots of presents for the babe, some of which I didn't know we'd need.
Tate gives the cake two thumbs up.
Here I am modeling Bordeauex's Butt Paste in the box I am holding. I didn't even know this existed, but I guess it works charms on diaper rash.
Corinne and Owen
The hosts Ben and Carrie slicing and dicing the cake for us.
Mike and Jenni drove out from Sioux City for the gathering.
Nicole and Amy
Thank you to all of you for your presence and gifts!
The countdown is on. I only have a few more weeks in Iowa City before we head out. We are kind of nomadic right now, and Hilary and Chad have been kind enough to share their home with us until we are in Sioux City officially, so I will only be intermittently posting any pics or visiting blogs. But I will try to throw on some things going on in the last adventures here in Iowa City for a while. Chad had his thirtieth birthday, and brought in the 30's by having a great show with Eric at The Mill in Iowa City. Daisy and Gizmo rest after a brief doggy wrestlemania. Nicole and I took Hilary's dad's Porsche Cayman for a drive. Sweet.
