It's a girl

Well, I have to get used to the color pink. We had the ultrasound on thursday, and they told us no boy parts. Everything else seen was normal, and we're excited. I am not REAL excited about all the pink stuff though. Pink for girls and blue for boys wasn't always the rule, and I would push for this argument for less pink stuff if I actually had any say.

Pink used to be the chosen color for boys, and blue for girls. Supposedly in medieval times red was considered a fierce color, more fitting for men. A lot of stuff that got dyed though quickly turned pink, and little boys ended up in pink.

I also came across this: "There has been a great diversity of opinion on the subject, but the generally accepted rule is pink for the boy and blue for the girl. The reason is that pink being a more decided and stronger color is more suitable for the boy, while blue, which is more delicate and dainty, is prettier for the girl." [Ladies Home Journal, June, 1918]

-So as late as 1918, our egg would hatch and don the blues. I am not sure when it switched, but I guess since it's only about 100 years since that article it might not have much relevance. I also want to note that not many blogs today quote Ladies Home Journal articles from the early 1900's. Only here on the Peltgrande Blog can you get that kind of information.

I am still suggesting the name Tony Copper Brownell for the name of your little girl

I suggest naming her after one of the elements...Lithium, Arsenic, Argon, Etc.

Nitrogen Brownell. 'Nitro' for short.

Her name should be "Mercury Volatile Brownell." That would rule.

Congrats.
